Book marketing publicity tips: Penny Sansevieri tells authors how to use a media center to attract the press to their websites

As book publicist Penny Sansevieri describes in her latest book, Red Hot Internet Publicity: The Insider's Guide to Marketing Your B..., websites are replacing press releases as the best way for authors to promote themselves by attracting media attention. Reporters and broadcast journalists increasingly use search engines to locate authors who are subject area experts. Authors whose books rank high in search engine searches enjoy a compelling advantage over their competition, which is why author online media centers and press centers are replacing mailed, faxed, and e-mailed press releases as a key Web 2.0 promotional tool.

Authors who attract the media's attention to their book's websites may end up quoted and referenced as published resources, with their book mentioned by name, in a prime time news or business program, or mentioned in influential print publications like Inc. Magazine, Fast Company, or the New York Times!

One mention can be enough to add a "as quoted in..." reference that will add years of credibility to an author's website and the covers of future books!

In an exclusive Published & Profitable interview, Penny Sansevieri will tell you what you need to know to attract the press to your website. You'll learn the elements of a successful online media center or press center. You'll find out what editors and reporters are looking for, and when you should set it up. You'll learn the difference between a press center on an author's primary site, as well as the press center for title-specific websites.

Published & Profitable members and friends are invited to attend this exclusive interview with Penny Sansevieri, and ask questions during the call on Monday, January 28. Published & Profitable teaches authors how to plan, write, promote, and profit from published books. Member authors enjoy 24/7 access to articles, assessments, checklists, templates, and worksheets. Penny Sansevieri's interview will be recorded for later playback by Published & Profitable members. To attend this recording, contact Published & Profitable.

David Hahn to Head Ruder Finn's Planned Television Arts Division

Founder, Rick Frishman Stays on as Senior Counsel

NEW YORK, NY - Jan. 23, 2008 -- David Hahn, Senior Vice President, Planned Television Arts (PTA) a division of Ruder Finn, Inc., has been appointed Managing Director of the division and promoted to Executive Vice President. He replaces Rick Frishman, who will remain Senior Counsel to the operation.

Hahn will be responsible for new business, financial management and overall operations. He has been with PTA since 1986 heading up its award-winning business book division while serving as Frishman's second in command. Hahn will now oversee PTA's broadcast media outreach, satellite TV and drive time radio tours for corporate clients as well as public relations programs involving celebrity tie-ins and product placement.

PTA is also the largest book publicity agency in the country. Hahn will be expanding its offerings with an Internet marketing division called PTA Interactive along with new offices starting up in Chicago and San Francisco. PTA's client list includes major book publishers, individual authors and others seeking specialized broadcast media support. Hahn will report to Richard Funess, president, Ruder Finn/Americas.

Funess states that a priority for Hahn and PTA is to take advantage of evolving opportunities to incorporate Web 2.0 solutions to enhance audience reach and extend clients' publicity online in addition to traditional media placements.

Acknowledging Frishman's many contributions to Ruder Finn and the Public Relations industry, Funess adds, "Rick is considered by many as one of the pioneers specializing in TV/Satellite and Radio Drive-Time interviews and media placements over the past two and a half decades. He shared his overall marketing techniques with others, publishing a number of books for writers looking to get exposure in the media. His latest release in the Author 101 series was produced by Adams Media and published by Morgan James. He will remain with us, as Senior Counsel, continuing to enhance the group's offerings and assist David Hahn in growing the division."

Frishman says, "I'm looking forward to this next phase of my career which I've been planning for several years now. I'll be focusing on speaking, writing and exploring new partnerships on PTA's behalf. For example, we'll be working closely with Morgan James, one of the fastest growing publishers in the country. I have several books about to be published and will continue to speak to author groups, publishers and businesses about the latest opportunities for publicity exposure in today's changing media landscape."

This is a fabulous idea...It would be great if authors posted their successes here in all the media. It is a great inspiration to know that the marketing efforts pay off...esp. when we see them. Itis overwhelming to me how many avenues there are to take in the marketing arena.
