About Me:
Ernie J. Zelinski is the author of the international bestseller How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free: Retirement Wisdom That You Won't Get from Your Financial Advisor, which was rejected by over 35 American and British publishers. Since it was self published, How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free (distributed by Ten Speed Press) has sold over 110,000 copies. It has also been published in 9 languages. What's more, go to www.Amazon.com and type "retirement" into the search feature. You will see that How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free appears in the number 1 position — out of over 175,000 listings for retirement books! Not bad, wouldn't you say, for a book that was rejected by over 35 major publishers? Of course, word-of-mouth advertising is the most powerful force when you have the best retirement book in the world.

Ernie Zelinski has negotiated 101 book deals with publishers in 27 different countries and his books have now sold over 625,000 copies worldwide. Ernie is best known as the author of The Joy of Not Working: A Book for the Retired, Unemployed, and Overworked, which is published by Ten Speed Press in Berkeley, California.

Ernie J. Zelinski is also author of the unconventional career book Career Success Without a Real Job: The Career Book for People Too Smart to Work in Corporations. His latest work is 101 Really Important Things You Already Know, But Keep Forgetting.

Ernie Zelinski has a B.Sc. in Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alberta. He occasionally speaks professionally on the subjects of book marketing, solo-entrepreneurship, early retirement, and applying creativity to business and leisure.

— from 101 Really Important Things You Already Know But Keep Forgetting by Ernie J. Zelinski

Anything great that has been accomplished in the history of humanity has started with one small thought. We all have those thoughts; few people do anything with theirs, however. What do you intend to do with yours?

from 101 Really Important Things You Already Know But Keep Forgetting

The best advice that anyone can give you for choosing a specific career is never to accept someone else's advice. Indeed, one of the biggest reasons for choosing the career you have chosen should be that no one told you to.

I get particularly annoyed when the publishers are North American.

Now don't get me wrong; there are a lot of publishers that operate with class and integrity but surprisingly the best ones are not North American.

One of the things that I have to deal with is getting paid my… Continue
